Google Chrome installed but I did not install it.  Also default browser set to read a link as if it was an application to open.  Many issues since I upgraded MSE.  What's up with that?  Also networking issues.  Slow computer, etc.
Ever since I upgraded MSE (When I did, there was a popup telling me it hadn't been certified for XP) I have had to do system restore because it wouldn't update, and would not allow me to update Windows. Also, since installing a new version of CCleaner and popping in an H&R Block CD (though not installed) Google Chrome suddenly appeared as installed. One day later, when I opened IE8, it said it was not my default browser. Turns out the default was trying to read links as if they were programs to open. These things are happening sequentially, not all at once. I am beginning to lose faith in MSE as a viable security program. Is anyone else having these issues?1 person needs an answerI do too

Unless you had one, did you also get a Google toolbar? Depending on which install package you used for CCleaner this is where your new default Chrome browser change probably came from Always watch for "extras" when installing software, sometimes even when you uncheck options such as Google Toolbar or Google Chrome as default browser and homepage they install any way . In the case of CCleaner you should always use the "Slim/No toolbar" installer /setup package such as the one offered here, http://majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Slim_d4191.htmlGo to General tab in Internet Options and reset your default home page and reset your default browser in "Set Program Access and Defaults" Then uninstall Google Chrome and Toolbar using Add/Remove Programs. If you had the Chrome issue before trying to upgrade MSE this may have contributed to failed updates. Typically you cshould only use Internet Explorer or Firefox. When you got popups was Windows Genuine Advantage validation part of the message? If so see this post here, http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/msestart/thread/22930cda-a0bd-4263-890b-ddf812859ca4
